Comment:- We all arose about 7.30am this morning and enjoyed a nice breakfast before heading into Canberra for the day.
We had tickets for the 10 am group to view the “Masterpieces From Paris” - post-impressionism from the Musee D’Orsay at the National Gallery of Australia.
After a light lunch at the High Court of Australia Cafeteria we visited the various court rooms and heard how they operate. An impressive building indeed.
From the High Court we walked to the National Portrait Gallery. The gallery showed the Australian of the Year awards which recognise and honour Australians who are inspirational leaders in their field.
A quick trip to the Supermarket and the bank it was back to the cabin to enjoy nibbles and a drink before a nice casserole tea, a short chat then retiring for the evening.

Day 23
Date:- 5 April 2010
Distance:- 32.20 Km
Distance to Date:- 1010.6 Km
Start:- Bungandore
Finish:- Sutton
Comment:- Up about 7am this morning and rang Evon to bring extra stuff when she comes. Had breakfast and packed up taking my time because I only have about 30km to reach my destination.
On the road by 9.30am. A gentle 2km hill before Smiths Gap, a climb uphill for about 1 km, and it was steep, but what a view.
About 7 km out of Bungandore I made a left turn for Sutton Had a 10km snack break today at Wamboi. Another 10Km before I turned onto the Federal Highway and found Sutton
I arrived in the township of Sutton and set about trying to find our caravan park. I finally found someone to ask, only to be told I had to back track to the highway, take the service road and it will be on your left about 5km away.
Checked in at the office, found a site, set up camp, had a very nice shower and then I was going to organise my meals from the mini mart at the caravan park. Alas the office closed at 1pm on public holidays so I rode my bike about 1.5 km to the local convenience store, got what I wanted and back to camp.
All in all it has been quite a pleasant day, sun shining, light southerly wind good roads and surprisingly light traffic.
I will be taking the next five days off to spend with Evon and our Australian friends we met in Canada. I am looking forward to our reunion and sight seeing around Canberra

Day 22
Date:- 4 April 2010
Distance:- 40.15 Km
Distance to Date:- 978.3 Km
Start:- Warri Rest Area
Finish:- Bungendore Show Grounds
Comment:- Daylight Saving finished last night but my body clock didn’t. I was up by 6am fed and packed up by 7.30am, and by the time I said my various farewells it was 8am, and on our way.
It got rather cold early last night but that mug of hot tomato soup was most welcome, thanks Sheila.
Started off a beautiful day, tail wind, overcast, cool, flat road, good shoulders. Stopped for my 20km break about 10.15am with only 15km to go, I think.
Arrived in Bungendore and straight to the Info centre requesting the best way to Sutton and where to camp. Not terrible helpful on which route to take but suggested the Show Grounds as a good place to camp.
After a good lunch and purchased tea from the local bakery it was off to the Show Grounds, about 2 km west of town. Tried to find the resident managers but to no avail, so set up camp. I found the HOT showers I was told about and set about making my self feel human again. All this and its FREE at this stage.
Off to Sutton tomorrow to meet up with Evon and our Australian friends we met in Canada. They are travelling up on Tuesday

Day 20
Date:- 2 April 2010
Distance:- 0 Km
Distance to Date:- 938.10 Km
Start:- Moyura
Finish:- Warri Rest Area
Comment:- Up about 7.30am this morning and cooked breakfast in the camp kitchen. Packed everything and off site (someone already to set up) by 9am.
Walked the bike, trailer and bike box to the bus stop (about a km) then set about putting bike into box etc. All done by 10.30am Now the big wait as the bus wasn’t due in till 2.05pm. I wasn’t game to leave the bus stop as there were some people of dubious means around, which was confirmed when a police vehicle turned up and hunted them on.
I found a wallet yesterday about 10km out of Moyura and I handed that into the police station. I may as well have either left it on the road or thrown it in the rubbish with the reception I got.
The bus arrived dead on time so we loaded the bike and gear on and away we went heading for Braidwood. I asked the driver whether he would mind dropping me at the rest area and he said no worries.
Arriving at the rest area I was greeted by about 10 or more other campers. Found a spot and set up camp and enjoyed the company of Liz and Herb.
I will spend another night here before heading to Bungendore Show Grounds

Day 19
Date:- 1 April 2010
Distance:- 42.33 Km
Distance to Date:- 938.10 Km
Start:- Narooma
Finish:- Moruya
Comment:- Out of bed by 7am, packed and had breakfast at Michaels Café again. On the road by 8.30am.
A fine cool morning, and again, that hill had to be attacked to get out of town. The hills seem a little more gentle but you still have to treat them with respect.
Passed through the little town of Bodalla and had my 20km break near Trunketabella Creek bridge.
Arrived in Moruya about 1pm and located the bike shop. Organised a box and when someone can check my rear gears. Booked into Riverbreeze Tourist Park, set up camp and back to the bike shop.
Bike mechanic replaced inner and outer cable to rear cluster and that seemed to have remedied the problem. Transported both bike and box back to camp.
Shower, tea and off to bed. Big day tomorrow.
HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE
