Comment:- I was up about 6am this morning and decided to have another shower, then a good breakfast, retrieved my washing from the clothes line folded and packed them away. Picked up my key deposit and received a donation from the management of the roadhouse. Packed up my tent and said my farewells to everyone and on the road by 8.30am.
An R.F.D.S. landing Strip was marked out on the road about 10 km from Nanutarra. Shortly after a kangaroo jumped out in front of me and then changed its mind and hopped back into the bushes.
Another cloudless sky and a 15 to 20 kt north easterly wind and I am travelling generally south west means I have another tail wind. Another thing, I have crossed more cattle grids today than for the whole time I have been away. I have taken to walking the bike across them as they can be quite rough.
I enjoyed today’s ride. It was only 70 km with a tail wind and very little traffic. I like these shorter distances. If I am trying to cover 100 km or more I seem to get uneasy, uncomfortable and not really enjoying it. It makes for a long day.
I arrived at my destination about 12.30pm, selected a tent site and set up camp. Daryl and his wife Anne are parked close by and I got talking to Daryl. They are from Port Lincoln in South Australia. I enjoyed a cup of coffee with them and was invited to tea latter on.
After a very delicious tea, spaghetti bolognaise, and a glass of red. I parted their company, back to my tent to do my diary.
Tomorrow I hope to ride to Lyndon River Rest Area.
