Comment:- Up at 6am, had breakfast. A gentleman from a near by motor home made me a cup of tea. I then packed up and on the road by 7.45am. Overcast morning to start with a 5 - 20 kt north easterly wind to my advantage again.
A few clumps of wildflowers starting to appear. White, mauve, and pink.
About 30 km from rest area a “pop top” caravan was travelling towards me and the right hand front top was lifting from the van. I waved and pointed to his roof in the hope he could be aware. I stopped to look back and thank goodness he had stopped and hopefully rectified the problem.
Stopped at the Burkett Road Information Bay then rode past the Coral Bay and Exmouth turn off about 40 km out from the rest area.
Wind has swung to the north west at 20 -25 kts, gusting to 30 kts. Stopped for my break 55 km out at 11,30am. Saw a telephone box in the middle of nowhere so sent an SMS to Evon to inform her of my progress. (Winning Pool Tele Building).
I crossed the Tropic of Capricorn so a sign on the side of the road told me.
About 30 km from my destination of Lyndon Creek Rest Area I had to go into survival mode, with the wind blowing it started to rain. I have been on the road for 160 days and haven’t got wet, well today is another story. For the last 20 km it drizzled, the wind blew and I wasn’t happy. I got wet, yes W.E.T. Not nice.
Arrived at Lyndon Creek Rest Area and headed for the sheltered seating area where I set up my tent and a clothes line to dry my wet clothes.
It turned out to be a community meeting place where someone played a mandolin and three other couples joined in. On of the couples plied us with some home made red wine and it was very nice. About 7.30pm I cooked tea, had a cuppa then adjourned to my tent to do my diary.
Tomorrow I will go to Minilya Roadhouse or beyond.
