Comment:- Last night I enjoyed a nice steak, salad and chips, Watched some TV before retiring to bed. It started raining lightly as I was coming back from the toilet and continued for some time. It had been threatening all day.
I was up at 7am after a good nights sleep. Quite a bit of rain overnight as was evident from the pools of water everywhere. Had a shave and shower then breakfast before packing up. Down to the Caravan Office to retrieve my key deposit. And had a cup of tea and toast and jam.
On the road by 8.30am. Heavy overcast morning with a SE wind of about 5 - 10 knots gusting to 15 at times. A very good road and light traffic as seems to be the norm.
The Barkly Homestead Complex seems to be a little goldmine with people coming and going all day The price of most things where a little higher than normal but to be expected. Petrol was $1.87 a litre and diesel was $1.84 a litre. A sign on the door says please don’t take offence at the cost of things as we generate our own power which costs about $500 a day as well as transport of goods in.
There were puddles of water on the road resulting from the overnight rain. Clouds are slowly burning off and the sun is trying to come out, but the wind keeps on blowing.
I arrived at Frewena Rest Area about 11.30am. Decided to have my break here and keep going to 41 mile Bore. I was travelling NW most of the day which meant I had the wind behind me almost all the way to 41 Mile Bore. For the 115 km I averaged 20.4 Kilometres an hour. I was quite happy with that.
I arrived at 41 mile Bore about 3.15pm, found a spot and pitched the tent etc, made a coffee for myself and completed my diary
Again no phone coverage. Tomorrow I hope to make Three Ways on the Stuart Highway. I will have covered the entire length of the Barkly Highway and its been a very good run.
