Day 128

Date:- 20 July 2010
Distance:- 62.22 Km
Distance to Date:- 6986.8 Km
Start:- Warmun Roadhouse Caravan Park
Finish:- Leycester’s Rest Area
Comment:- Last night after tea I did my diary, updated my Blog and checked my Emails etc. I had a good fast internet connection. I was then invited for a cuppa from the two couples I had met earlier. Bed by 8.30pm and a good nights sleep.

I was up about 5am, had some breakfast, packed and ready for the road. Invited to tea and toast before I went to the park reception to claim my deposit back.

On theb road by 6.30am with a nice clear morning and very little breeze. Had to give way to a couple of oversize loads early in the day. A narrow road with no shoulders and a few one way bridges made things interesting to say the least.

A south eastery started to come in about 9.30am about the time I decided to have my break. I had my break on the side of the road opposite Frog Hollow, a closed aboriginal community.

Rode into Muluks Rest Area, a rather new area, but no facilities Maybe good for oversighting in a caravan. It was roughly 40 km from Warnum.

Passed the turnoff for the Kimberley Nickle Mine. The road is not quite as lumpy (hilly) as the first 30 km but was genently going uphill.

Turnoff to the Bungle Bungles National Park on my left and then Spring Creek Rest Area on my right. Only 5 km to my destination for the day.

Arrived at Leycester’s Rest Area about 12.30pm. It is a very big area with two basic long drop toilets, fire places and a few shelters. Chose my spot next to a shelter so I can lock the bike up and use the shelter for cooking etc.

Will have a lazy afternoon to prepare for the big day tomorrow when I hope to head for Halls Creek about 100km.
