Day 119
Date:- 11 July 2010
Distance:- 0 Km
Distance to Date:- 6219.6 Km
Start:- Riverview Motel & Caravan Park
Finish:- Riverview Motel & Caravan Park
Comment:- Last night I had tea in the café then wandered around the caravan park. Garry and Cheryl, who I met in Mataranka, rang and said they would like to drop in to see me in the morning at the caravan park. I then went to bed. At 10.30pm last night it was still 24 degrees.
Had a good nights sleep awaking about 7am, up and beat the ladies to the washing machines, but only just. Got the washing hung out then a nice leisurely breakfast. Checked over the bike and trailer and that tube. Again another of those fancy patches had failed me. The only reason I can see why it failed was, while I was on then bike path I crossed a road and both the entry and exits were quite steep. I hit them quite hard hence increasing the pressure in the tube and was too much for the patch.
Garry and Cheryl arrived while I was answering a couple of Emails. Showed them a few pictures then down to my camp site and showed them the bike, then we wandered around the park. I asked them for a lift into town, once there, we said our cheerio’s and on our separate ways. Hope to catch up with them in Perth.
I went to Woolies and bought up some provisions and was wondering how I was going to get back to the park when I recognised someone from a previous park. They were staying at a different park but passed my park on the way to theirs. Any chance of a lift? No worries.
Back in camp I packed my purchases, had some lunch then retrieved my washing and packed that up as well. Then a fright for the system, bathers on and down to the thermal springs for a dip. It was very nice as the forecast temperature of 34 degrees was reached and the temperature of the springs a constant 24 degrees. I stayed in the water for about an hour. Very relaxing and I am sure therapeutic.
Answering a couple more Emails then my diary and if I have time another dip in the springs.
Tomorrow I will head for the Mathison Rest Area about 103 km west of Katherine on the Victoria Highway. Hopefully an early start to avoid the hot weather.

Just been catching up on your blog, after a weekend away. Really enjoying reading it. Just watch out for those road trains.
ReplyDeleteThought you might be interested in the tour de france as Cadel Evans has just taken the lead, about a minute ahead of Contador and Armstrong lost 12 minutes. Looks like he is stronger than last year.
