Day 115

Date:- 7 July 2010
Distance:- 100.07 Km
Distance to Date:- 5901.1 Km
Start:- Elliot Mobil Van Park
Finish:- Shell Dunmarra Wayside Inn C/P
Comment:- On the completion of my diary about 4.30pm I wandered down to the hotel.Spoke to a couple of motor cyclists who had come down from Katherine. They were hoping to go further but the dark clouds persuaded them to stay at Elliot and in the same park as me.

Had a nice counter meal, watched some telly to get an idea what the weather had in store for me and it didn’t look too bad. Back to the caravan park and retired for the night. Awoke about 1amwhen I heard someone walking around. It may have been someone going to the toilet. it’s the first time I haven’t locked the bike up. So I got up and locked it up and back to bed.

Awoke again about 6am, got up, packed and ready to go. Had to wait for the office to open to return the key and get my deposit back. Had a cooked breakfast and a cup of tea and then, on the road by 7.30am

Heavy cloud cover and a light misty rain for the first 20 km but not too bad. A good road and medium traffic, including a couple of trucks. Not a breath of wind at this stage. Hoping my SE wind fills in shortly.

Stopped at Newcastle Waters Rest Area to check it out - not too bad. It was about 22km out of Elliot. Clouds seem to be lifting and the sun is trying to poke through. Stopped for my break about 11am 50km out from Elliot.

The rain over the last couple of days has made all the colours more vibrant. The rich reds, browns and yellows and the healthy greens all lapping up the moisture.

About 30 km out from Dunmarra the sun is shining and I am warming up, time to start removing some wet weather clothing. Its turning out to be a very nice day.

Arrived at Dunmurra and booked into the caravan park. Very nice and clean little park and very popular. Had a meat pie and a free coffee for lunch, then a nice hot shower before doing my diary. No mobile phone coverage here.

Not quite sure what my plan of attack for the next few days but Katherine is my objective by next Sunday.
