Day 126
Date:- 18 July 2010
Distance:- 80.41 Km
Distance to Date:- 6807.8 Km
Start:- Kimberleyland Holiday Park - Kununarra
Finish:- Dunham River Rest Area
Comment:- Had a chat with Glen from Pambula before I had my tea, watched a bit of TV, then rang Evon only to be told I was an hour early. My phone had been turned back by 2.5 hours and it should have only been 1.5 hours. Manually reset phone clock so all should be right now.
I was up at 5.45am after ringing “Macka” again. No return call. A little frustrating.
On the road by 7.30am and rode past the Kununarra Airport on the right and the golf club on the left. Then over the spillway of Lake Kununarra. I then turned onto the Great Northern Highway about 45 km out of Kununarra about 10.30am.
Good road with very light traffic flow. Stopped for my half way break at 11am. A 5 - 10 knot south easterly breeze was starting to fill in and since I am generally heading that way, it called a head wind. There are a couple of advantages of a head wind, they being no flies around your face and in your eyes and secondly the breeze helps to keep your body cool.
Arrived at Dunham River Rest Area and it didn’t look too bad, a few vans in here already so I decided to camp here for the night. Should be able to make an early start in the morning and get to Warmun by tomorrow night. A distance of 107 km.
