Distance:- 91.48 Km
Distance to Date:- 6410.4 Km
Start:- Mathison Rest Area
Finish:- Victoria River Road House Caravan Park
Comment:- After tea last night I got talking to my next door campers, Nowjab (sorry if I got the name wrong) and Briony who offered me a couple of glasses of red wine while we chatted the night away. In bed by 9.45pm and had a very good nights sleep, so good, I slept right through to 6.30am. I was going to get up by 5.30am for an early start.

Up 6.30am, breakfast, packed and on the road by 6.45am. Beautiful morning, birds chattering, no wind, sun just rising and fresh fragrant smells, then “POW”, a silver bullet (motor car) shattered the peace.

Upset some cattle grazing on the side of the road. Not worried about cars or trucks but took off when I came along. I upset a couple of kangaroos a bit further down the road.

Passed the turn off for Top Springs then stopped at the Buntine Monument commemorating the opening of the Buntine Highway.

The road is more undulating now as it winds it way through the hills and we enter Gregory National Park.

Came up over the first hill and it was just like a theatre curtain opening. The panorama that met me was magnificent A pleasant north easterly breeze had come, in which added to the nice day.

Arrived at Victoria River Road House about 1.30pm, had a bite to eat and a free coffee. A couple from Nowra came up to me inquiring about what I was up to. They had done a lot of long distance riding around Australia mainly off-road stuff pulling BOB trailers. It was quite interesting talking to them. They departed and I went to set up my tent, have a shower and generally relax. Its about 34’ here at the moment.

Tomorrow I will set off for Timber Creek.
