Day 112

Date:- 4 July 2010
Distance:- 76.72 Km
Distance to Date:- 5650.7 Km
Start:- Three Ways Roadhouse Caravan Park
Finish:- Banka Banka Station Caravan Park
Comment:- Awoken about 5.45am this morning by early departures. These people arrived late last night, made a lot of noise setting up and just as much noise packing up, plus they camped right on my doorstep. I must be lucky.

Despite all the noise I did have a very good sleep. I crawled out of bed about 6.45am, packed up and over to the café for a cooked breakfast. I was on the road by 8.45am after chatting to different people. I would like 5 cents for every minute I tell people about my journey. I reckon it would pay for the trip.

A good road leading generally NW with a SE breeze of 5 - 10 knots. In other words a tail wind again. A few clouds around, the sun is shining but still a little cool It was more comfortable as the day wore on.

A few more cars and trucks on the Stuart Highway which is to be expected. The road is gently rising and falling . Stopped for my break about 11am, 35 km out from 3 ways.

Rode through the picturesque Short Ranges, then stopped at Attack Creek Rest Area to check that out. Quite a nice big area with toilets, water, shelter and BBQ. The Whittington Ranges were then crossed and ended with a very nice downhill run. The road then flattened out with about a 10km run into Banka Banka.

Got to Banka Banka and as I was entering the gate someone was taking my photo. It turned out to be Tony Spark an old workmate from Geelong. Tony and his wife Pam are travelling around our lovely country. No doubt we will enjoy a beer together before the night is out.

I would like to thank the management of Banka Banka for waiving the camping fee. It was very much appreciated.

Set up tent and then, you guessed it, off to have a nice hot shower before doing my diary. No mobile phone coverage.

Tomorrow I hope to travel to Renner Springs, a distance of about 60 km.
