Day 31

Date:- 14 April 2010
Distance:- 74.93 Km
Distance to Date:- 1414.5 Km
Start:- Mount Colah
Finish:- The Entrance North
Comment:- Its one month today since Evon opened the gate and let me go. Time stops for no one.

Up at 6am this morning, packed and down to McDonalds for a good healthy breakfast. On the road to Gosford by 7.30am. On to the Pacific highway for the first 20km through Berowa Valley, quite a pretty ride. Not as many trucks as most of them use the Sydney/Newcastle Freeway which runs parallel to the Pacific.

Prior to crossing the Hawksbury River we transferred from the Pacific to the Freeway and remained on it till the turn off to Gosford.
The two bridges I had to cross were again not bike friendly. I walked both bridges.

A very nice ruin down to the Hawksbury River but an equally demanding climb out. The same for the Long Island bridge.

The road to Gosford from the highway was, again down hill and rather steep in a few areas. I worry because the trailer I tow carries about 20 kg and is unbraked. I hope it doesn’t pass me.

Into Gosford and found the Info office and picked up a couple of maps of the area and from these and some local advice I decided to go to the Entrance. There were a few more hills to conquer as I headed out through Erina and then on it wasn’t too bad except for two lots of roadworks.

As time was getting on I decided to phone ahead to the Caravan Park I hoped to stay and I am glad I did. Office closed at 5pm. All organised, all I had to do was get there. I arrived at 6pm after a couple of wrong turns, etc.

Tent up, then off to the shower to make myself feel human again, had a coffee, cooked tea, Worked on my diary then off to bed.

Tomorrow I have elected to have as a rest day to wash clothes, check the bike over and maybe wander around town.

Since I have been on the road I have found $9.15, a 12” shifter, a screw driver, a pair of side cutters, and a 6” shifter. The amount of stuff along the side of the road is amazing. You name it its there.
