Comment:- Up at 6.30am to the sounds of many birds. Took a short walk along the river before having breakfast. Was able to watch TV while having breakfast. What a luxury. I found it hard to leave.
Anyhow I was on the road by 8.45am, back to the Pacific Highway about 3 km. Nice flat road for the first 18 km then a gentle hill. Sun was shining and a light northerly wind.
I had a senior moment as I was riding, I took a left hand lead off the highway and was wondering where all the traffic had gone, then I realized, and had to work my way back to the highway.
Another 5 km down the road I ran into roadwork’s, actually 35 km of them. North bound lanes were closed, then the south bound lanes and so on. It was hard going - bike lane, then no bike lane or ride in the bright hand lane into oncoming traffic. We survived.
A couple of threatening clouds hanging around again. Have already had a couple of light sun showers. Stopped under a bridge for my snack break about 12pm
Roads were wet but I was lucky it never rained where I was. Crossed over the Hasting River on my way to Kempsey. Not much in the way of rest areas or caravan parks so I decided to go for Kempsey, until I saw a sign pointing to a caravan park, so in I went
The Stoneypark Caravan Park at Telegraph Point. A very new park with large man made lakes designed for wake boarders and water skiers. A nice camp kitchen similar to last night, it’s a hard life.
Not sure how far I will go tomorrow and I am nearly due for a rest day to catch up on some washing and recharge the batteries.
