Day 45

Date:- 28 April 2010
Distance:- 52.85 Km
Distance to Date:- 2285.40 Km
Start:- Broadwater Tourist Park
Finish:- North Lakes (Nathan & Tania)
Comment:- Out for tea last night, then a walk around the park, then into bed by 9.30am.

I must thank Glen and Lyn for organising my next nights accommodation in North Lakes with their son and daughter in law, Nathan and Tania, their two children and two dogs.

I phoned Nathan last night to touch base and organise a rendezvous in Brisbane. I will ring Nathan at 1.30pm tomorrow.

Breakfast at McDonalds ( I cant help myself) then on the road by 7.45am. The Gold coast Highway, to Marine Parade, through Runaway Bay, Hollywell, Hope Island and then Oxenford, where we turned north to head for Coomera.

The bike lane lead onto the M1 highway and I thought you beauty express to Brisbane. But then the sign appeared “No Bikes on freeway” My hopes were dashed. Back into Coomera and go to Pimpama. I was trying to stay in sight of the M1 as I headed north.

The next little town was Ormeau where I had a snack break before tackling the hills again. Yatala, Beenleigh then Loganholme. I was on a bike path, then a road, back to a path in fact all over the place but as long as I kept heading north I was right.

At Loganholme I sought help from the local RACQ on how to get into the city. They were most helpful and gave me a full map of the area.
After a cold drink at a nearby café I was set to go again when the phone rang. It was Nathan and, was I glad to hear from him. He went out of his way to pick me up and take me to his house in North Lakes.
Were I met the rest of the family. After a nice shower and a decent towel to dry with, we dealt with my washing and hung it out to dry.

I have put the bike back together, made a couple of simple repairs and finally relaxing.

It is good knowing Brisbane is now behind me. I may have a rest day tomorrow although I don’t want to wear out my welcome and their generosity.
