Day 55

Date:- 8 May 2010
Distance:- 78.07 Km
Distance to Date:- 2909.0 Km
Start:- Mount Larcom Caravan Park
Finish:- Riverside Tourist Park - Rockhampton
Comment:- Up at 6am, breakfast, packup and on the road by 8.15am. Cooler day to start. Sign at Mount Larcom indicated 77 km to Rockhampton my destination for the day.

Good road all the way to Rockhampton with only a couple of small hills to break the monotony. In other words a good flat road with varying shoulders about 70% 2 metre wide, 20% 1 metre wide and 10% no shoulder.

Passed through the towns of Ambrose, Raglan and Marmo where I stopped for my break. Then passed through Banjol where they make some sort of explosive. Signs along the road warned us of trucks carrying explosives, etc.

I then had a straight run into Rockhampton. Rang my navigator (Evon) to find out where my caravan park was. Found the park, booked in set up camp and as I was about to head up town Mark rang and we organised a place to meet.

Met Mark and Tina at our agreed place and we enjoyed a drink together. They had had a long week and their two children were very tired so we called it a day and went our separate ways.

Being a weekend not much is open so just had to be satisfied with window shopping. Back to camp and do my diary before I go to the Bowling Club for tea.

Haven’t worked out tomorrows’ destination yet.
