Day 64
Date:- 17 May 2010
Distance:- 5.74 Km
Distance to Date:- 3395.2 Km
Start:- Proserpine Caravan Park
Finish:- Proserpine Caravan Park
Comment:- Another Rest Day.
Last night just on dusk one of the locals from the caravan park strongly suggested I move my tent under the shelter of the camp kitchen as there was heavy rain approaching. I took his advice. The heavy rain didn’t eventuate but light showers persisted all night and up to lunch time today.
I took the liberty, of being slightly ahead of schedule, to take a rest day as I don’t like getting wet if I don’t have to. It has been quite a cool day. I wore my jumper most of the day.
I finally got out of bed about 7am and had a leisurely breakfast while watching TV. Had a bit of a tidy up before riding into town (between showers) and wandering around the shops. Back to camp and just had a lazy afternoon sometimes wishing I hadn’t decided to stay.
Tomorrow it will be Bowen or beyond. The weather seems to be breaking up and the sun has been shining. The radio forecast said showers clearing overnight.

Geoff Glad to hear you got your trailer tyre fixed. Its most likely hard enough towing without having a flat tyre. Proserpine seems like a friendly neighbourhood what with Bandicoots etc to keep you on your toes. It must have been a bit hard hammering in the tent pegs in the camp kitchen!!! Never mind the ground will be nice and soft after the rain. Hope your hand is recovery well by now particularly with the stiches removed. You will surely fly onto Townsville and Cairns. Keep those pedals turning after all your followers are always most interested in your daily travels.
