Day 72

Date:- 25 May 2010
Distance:- 0 Km
Distance to Date:- 3872.6 Km
Start:- Bilyana Rest Area
Finish:- Bilyana Rest Area
Comment:- As you can see I decided to remain here for the day. I am only 160 km from Cairns and I’m not expected there till Thursday night or Friday and this is quite a pleasant little rest area.

I had a goods nights sleep. Last train I heard was 9.30pm. The highway traffic didn’t worry me either. Listened to the radio this morning - very depressing. Unsettled communities, stock market still sliding down. The only good thing was the weather. 20 degrees overnight and expected 29 degrees today. Very pleasant.

Out of bed about 7.45am and had breakfast and a quick chat with Les and Mary before they departed to go further north. Another overnight caravaner came up for a chat. Pastor George Porter and his wife are heading north as well to meet friends. After a chat and a prayer they were on their way.

Went for a stroll up the road for about 2 km then came back along the railway line which follows the road. Time for another cuppa as I watch a continuous line of travellers stopping for a break. Some stopping for a toilet break while others stopping for refreshments.

My morning was shattered by the noise of the contractor cutting the grass. It is good to see these rest areas are so well maintained. Even the toilet facilities are very clean and plenty of paper.

I will probably spend the rest of the afternoon just wandering around or doing my Sudoku puzzles or just watching people come and go.

Tomorrow I will head for Innsifail, or further, and Thursday onto Cairns. I hope you are ready for us Grahame and Mundi. Evon flies into Cairns on Saturday.
