Distance to Date:- 3710.0 Km
Start:- Magnetic Gateway Holiday Village Townsville

Comment:- Today I was going to Anaconda to pick up a couple of bargains so I could afford a sleep in. So I was up at 7am packed up and heading into Townsville.
Before I left the caravan park my next door caravaner came across to me and asked if I had anything stolen. Apparently, about 8.30pm someone crept up to their van and stole their new shoes, and someone else lost something as well.
It was about 12 km into town from the caravan park. Stopped at Hungry Jacks for breakfast before going to Anaconda. Found what I wanted and checked out then asked where the nearest supermarket was. They told me where but I couldn’t find it so turned around and headed foir the Bruce Highway via Ingam road.
Onto the Bruce Highway and heading north and I stopped at the first convenience store I could find and made my purchase and on the way again.
About 7 km down the road I came across a Woolworths Supermarket. I wanted some fresh fruit so in I went. Looked for my wallet and it wasn’t there. Help where could it be. I found my receipt from the convenience store but alas no phone number. After a quick assessment of the situation I unloaded the bike, asked a couple of people doing a sauage sizzle if they could keep an eye on my gear, and headed back 7 km to the convenience store. To my great relief the wallet was handed in and I got it back fully intact.
Back to Woolies, bought a couple of snags in appreciation of the people who looked after my gear, got my fruit and back on the road and settled for the first rest area that came my way
Blue Water Rest Area was about 12 km down the road and that’s where I stopped. it’s a 24 hour stop with toilets and a cold shower, if you are brave enough. There are about 30 vans and motor homes already in here and I pitched my tent on the nice green oval.
My new neighbour had the kettle on and offered me a cuppa. They are all very friendly around here. I had to attend to another flat tyre on BOB. Rather frustrating and will have to tackle the problem once I get to Cairns.
Tomorrow I should get to Ingham which is about 75 Km fom here.

That was really lucky! At least you found out before you had got too far down the road.
ReplyDeleteNot far to Cairns now - have a good rest!

Geoff, I switched to Continental Travel Contact MTB tyres which have a kevlar lining for my commute between Bath and Bristol and it worked wonders reducing the number of punctures I got. Maybe you could do something similar for BOB.
