Start:- Camila Beach Rest Area
Finish:- Tropicana Caravan Park - Sarina
Comment:- Up about 6am and had breakfast on the beach as the sun was rising. Makes you feel good to be alive. Packed and ready to roll. Started wheeling the bike and trailer out to the road and noticed something strange. My trailer had a flat tyre. That delayed my departure somewhat. Repaired the puncture and on the road by 8.15am
Rode the 6 km back to the Bruce Highway and headed off toward Sarina. Taking the detour was certainly out of character with me but it was certainly worth it.
About 20 km out of Camila I met an Englishman cycling the opposite direction. Vin Cox was from Cornwall in England and was cycling from Darwin to Sydney where he was flying to New Zealand to cycle there. Sounds like he was cycling around the world. Watch out dear I may get the same idea.
Stopped at a wayside stop near llbllie for my snack break, then had a cold drink at Koumala before proceding on to Sarina. Arrived in Sarina about 1.30pm and went looking for a caravan park. Found one, booked in set up camp and put a load of washing in. If it is a peaceful night here tonight I will have a Rest Day. Have my stitches removed at the local hospital. Service the bike and trailer and recharge my batteries. At this stage I am still 7 days ahead of schedule.
I meant to mention the road conditions yesterday. From the Waverley Creek Rest Area to Sarina I have had at least a metre shoulder all the way. Very nice I would like to think it will continue onto Cairns.
