Day 81
Date:- 3 Jun 10
Distance:- 0 Km
Distance to Date:- 4033.5 Km
Start:- Grahame & Mundi - Cairns
Finish:- Grahame & Mundi - Cairns
Comment:- Today we were planning on going to Green Island. But we felt the weather may have been against us so we decided to go to Kuranda.
Mundi drove us up to Kuranda where Evon and I wandered the various shops and stalls. it’s a true tourist town with souvenir shops and market type stalls.
We experienced light misty rain, and while having lunch we had rather heavy rain which lasted about 10 minutes. The weather cleared and we had a nice day to finish with.
We did a couple of short walks around Kuranda before taking the Skyrail down to the Barron Falls Station. Here we walked to the various Look Outs to view the falls, then back to the Skyrail to descend to our next stop, the Red Peak Station.
At the Red Peak stop we wandered around the various boardwalks to experience the rainforest canopies. Back to the Skyrail and down to Caravonica Terminal and, guess what, straight into the Souvenir shop.
We phoned our gracious host, Mundi who then picked us up and we travelled back home.
Tomorrow we may try for Green Island depending on the weather.

Geoff,
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest ditching Evon and getting on the road again but I have to admit I'm just as envious of the exploring your are doing around Cairns and I'm enjoying reading the supporting blogs. Keep up the daily updates, those of us still working the daily grind (most of the time) are enjoying the brief escapism through our daily read. Don.
