Comment:- Last night I wandered down the street to the Mud Hut Hotel where I had tea. A big meal for a modest price. I then went back to the park chatted to a couple of people in the camp kitchen before adjourning to bed for the night.

The town was very busy last night. All the motels were full and the pub was very busy with counter meals. The reason being, a 2 day field day ending with a horse race meeting on Saturday.

Up by 6.30am and on the road by 8.30am. Stopped at the local Supermarket for some fruit and something for tea then headed off on the road to Julia Creek. Sent a birthday greeting to Bert. Hope he received it

Very good road to begin with, cloudless sky and a light NE breeze. About 17 km from Richmond were roadworks with a side road as a detour. The detour was quite rough in places with holes and corrugations. The roadworks continued for about 10 km.

Had a good run in to the rest area where I had to make a decision as to whether I keep going to Julia Creek or stop the night at the rest area. As it was another 05 km to Julia Creek I decided to have an easy day today and go to Julia Creek tomorrow. There are 5 vans here for the night at the moment and I expect a few more as the day progresses.
