Comment:- Last night as I was starting to prepare my tea in the camp kitchen a car pulled up, out jumped a man and started to set up for a couple of hours of country and western singing. Actually wasn’t too bad. Consequently I had a late tea.

Rest day today so made the most of a pleasant sleep in. Arose about 8am, had breakfast, pottered around the park for a while before going for a walk around town.

Wandered up Gray Street past a replica of a Muttaburrasaurus Dinosaur to the Info Centre and picked up some more brochures. I then turned into Brodie Street to the town centre and wandered into a few of the shops. Like most towns there are quite a few vacant shops around. The Federation Rotunda was constructed in the centre of the street. Made from 20ft windmills brought in from a local property, dated 1912 and 1916. These windmills were originally used to pump water for stock.

Went to the Diggers Entertainment Centre which is a multipurpose $2.7m entertainment centre, built in 2002. Found a bakery and bought a couple of bread rolls for lunch.

Back to the caravan park to have lunch. Gathered my dry washing folded and pack it. Checked the bike and trailer over, oiled the chain and checked the tyre pressures. All seems to be ok.

There was a tannery here. KT Australia Tannery. Built in 1995, this tannery is designed to be one of the foremost environmentally friendly tanneries in the Southern Hemisphere. I could find anyone to tell me about it.
Speaking to a number of caravaners who had travelled from Mt Isa or Julia Creek and they were complaining about the strong head wind. If only I was on the road it would have meant a tail wind like yesterday and I may have made it to Richmond or beyond. Hopefully the same weather conditions prevail for tomorrow.
