Day 185

Date:- 15 September 2010
Distance:- 66.96 Km
Distance to Date:- 11359 Km
Start:- Baxter Rest Area
Finish:- Caiguna Caravan Park
Comment:- Last night I cooked tea in the tent, washed up and in bed by 7.30 pm. Listened to the radio for a while, then off to sleep. It was very cold last night so I put on an extra layer of clothing. My feet were really cold. Eventually fell asleep awaking about 5.45 am and getting up at 6 am. Cooked some noodles for breakfast, cleaned up and packed up and on the road by 7.30 am.

Baxter Rest Area was a good big rest area with seating and tables and a toilet. Again in need of servicing. Rubbish bins full to overflowing.

Good clear morning with a light northerly breeze.

It is just wonderful riding through this section of the Nullarbor. Its so green, the sun shining, the odd bunch of wildflowers, birds chirping and light traffic.

Stopped at Domblegabby Rest Area for a break. Nice big area with big sheltered area, a water tank, numerous table and chairs and a toilet. This rest area is well used.

On the road again and I was “deflaged” by an overtaking truck. It broke my “Aussie” flag clean off BOB. I will try and remount the flag when I get to my destination tonight.

Not a breath of wind in late morning. Dead calm but the traffic has increased with a number of trucks passing now. Having a pleasant ride.

I have now ridden the longest straight stretch of road in Australia ending at Caiguna. 146 km (100 miles). It was very gently undulating and a reasonably good road.

On my arrival at Caiguna I booked into the Caravan Park, set up my tent, had a nice hot shower then moved over to the café to do my diary.

Another easy day tomorrow as I will head for Cocklebiddy Road House, a distance of 64 km.
