Day 192

Date:- 22 September 2010
Distance:- 66.97 Km
Distance to Date:- 11823 Km
Start:- Rest Area 45 K Peg
Finish:- Rest Area 111 K Peg
Comment:- A number of showers last night meant I had a wet tent to pack up. I was up at 6 am, breakfast , said goodbye to Kevin and Jan and on the road by 7 am.

Kevin had given me a good handful of fruit - apples, an orange and a mandarin.

Shortly after I left the rest area I coped another light shower of rain. I have been watching rain clouds build up to my weather (right hand) side and either cross the front of me or behind me.

The cloud seems to be breaking up and the sun had come out momentarily. Early in the day there was little or no wind but by mid morning I had my south easterly wind of 5 - 10 kts which slowed my progress somewhat.

Stopped for my break about 30 km out at 9.30 am. I was all of a sudden hit with a light shower of rain which seemed to come out of nowhere. Back on the road again heading for 111 k peg rest area.

I then stopped at a rest area to avoid a passing shower and met 3 young people from Manjimup who were travelling to Coffin Bay. They didn’t have any hot water but they did give me some sausages wrapped in bread. After the shower passed I continued on my way.

A bit further down the road I stopped and waited for another shower to pass and then it was express to the rest area arriving about 2.15 pm. The Rest area was closed but that didn’t stop me putting my tent up near the steel shelter shed. it’s a little blowy but the views are magnificent. I may even see a whale or two if I am lucky.

I am doing my diary in the tent. No mobile phone coverage again so no downloading to blog.

Tomorrow I will head for the Nullarbor Roadhouse a distance of about 75 km
