Day 193

Date:- 23 September 2010
Distance:- 74.64 Km
Distance to Date:- 11897 Km
Start:- Rest Area 111K peg
Finish:- Nullarbor Roadhouse Caravan Park
Comment:- Last night I cooked tea in my tent, washed up and into bed and listened to the radio. There was a very strong wind blowing and I thought at one stage my tent was going to turn itself inside out.

Up at 5.30 am this morning and on the road by 6.45 am. An overcast day with a very light south easterly breeze to start with. The weather seems a little more settled today, but who knows.

About 10 km out a couple of caravans had stopped on the side of the road. As I approached a gentleman crossed the road and gave me an orange. We chatted for a few minutes then he gave me a nice small donation. I asked and was given some water and we went our separate ways. They were from Tasmania.

Stopped at the Wigunda Rest Area and checked my mobile phone. No coverage. I was told there was reception there.

I had just turned over 35 km for the day, that meant break time at 10.30 am. Back on the road again and express to Nullarbor Roadhouse.

I am struggling at the moment what with the head wind and I am starting to get a sore backside. I must have lost all my padding and it seems, from about 50 km onwards, I am terribly uncomfortable. Stopping every km to let my backside have a rest. Sometimes squeezing a couple of extra km in if I am lucky.

I am thinking of having a Rest Day here and do my washing, and address my other problems. I will get the maps out and seek some advice about what is in front of me.
